And while it is an unfair system that sees Trump and other millionaires pay so little tax, it must be pointed out that in 2016 Joe Biden was the Vice President of the USA. He has been the VP since 2008, which is possibly the last time Trump paid FIT, though more details will surely come out over the coming weeks.
Joe Biden has spent 8 years as VP, and decades as a Senator, overseeing the various tax loopholes that allow millionaires and billionaires to get away without paying their fair share of taxes. Yet here he is today saying that millionaires and billionaires need to pay their fair share of taxes.
Joe has had ample time to ensure that the super-wealthy pay "their fair share", but has decided to wait until little over a month before the Presidential Election to finally decide to care about this issue.
Most people can see that this is going to become a focal point of this campaign, with Biden playing up that most Americans have paid more than the President in FIT. It is likely that even more information will come out over the coming weeks, with FIT being the focus. But there are more taxes that Trump's businesses pay, other than his personal taxes, including various taxes on his businesses around the world, such as his golf course in Doonbeg, Ireland. It will be interesting to see if these figures are too released over the coure of the remainder of the campaign.
What this shows is that neither candidate is really willing to tackle the issue of tax loopholes used by the wealthy, because one candidate clearly benefits financially, and the other hasn't done so in his long political career.
